To achieve the long-term strategic and tactical sales and distribution plan for the Monster brand portfolio in support of the Company’s business objectives.
The BDM will manage monthly financials and sales reports with distributors, customers and country teams to determine opportunities for improvements based on efficiency and adjustments in consumer and customer demand, as well as brand/item performance and pricing.
The BDM will be responsible for central management of a key Southern Africa DP relationship and accompanying processes, as well as being a fundamental internal support to the country teams in the achievement of objectives and activation of plans.
The BDM will also be responsible for creating and maintaining scorecards/templates/processes within Southern Africa BU as well as the development and preparation of presentations for the Sales Management Team for both internal and external use.
The BDM will set an example of leadership for his/her respective team and will be a respected representative of Monster Energy Europe Ltd, supporting and potentially deputising for the VP/Commercial Director/BDD as or if required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be a key joint operational and strategic contact with business managers for day to day management of large BU distributor/s, with an ability to operate at an EU and country level.
- To be able to operate as the vital link across all necessary departments within both Monster
- and distributors to ensure that all necessary tasks are completed and objectives are achieved. Functions/departments could include Commercial, Field Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, Business Development and Country Management.
- To support and work with all Southern Africa BU DPs and Country Management teams to ensure consistency of approach and maximum efficiency.
- Run and own DP review and planning meetings as required.
- To own the Southern Africa BU annual business planning process
- Provide analysis and interpretation of internal/external market data, highlighting any underlying trends to identify new market opportunities and recommend strategies to increase the organisation’s profitability.
- Ensure cooperation of all functional department heads and departments to maximise the output for the VP/Commercial Director/BDD.
- Review all P & L elements and offer pro-active measurements, ideas and reactive solutions.
- Interface with department managers and the Information Technology Department to recommend changes to workflow procedures and/or system configuration modifications as required.
- Recommend changes to current sales techniques, procedures or promotional efforts based on market research and thorough analysis of sales financials, and meet with Supply Chain/Logistics Department to offer suggestions as to the results of these changes.
- Establish and implement best practices, including continuous improvement of a standardised process by using alternative views such as analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios where appropriate.
- Identify and propose new product technology or SKU’s opportunities and updates.
- Monitor BU/country objectives with aim of protecting margin and evaluating where the Company/BU/country can adjust pricing and profitability.
- Review monthly financials and sales reports to determine opportunities for improvements based on efficiency and adjustments in consumer and customer demand, as well as brand/item performance and pricing.
- Review and evaluate pricing of all items sold by the Company, based on analysis of competition, gross margin, and PTC’s.
- Create and maintain internal templates and calendars to monitor, track and evaluate activity and decisions. Manage and generate sales forecasts with country management teams.
- Manage any monthly volume reporting summaries and templates.
- Complete supplier reports, including distribution and volume for company totals on a monthly basis.
- Complete all internal control records, forms, and reports accurately.
- Monitor unit activities with respect to budgetary guidelines and controls.
- Prepare special reports for management as requested.
- Assist in ensuring that all work tasks are performed by staff in a safe and secure manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Strong commercial knowledge and experience with the ability to combine with good appreciation of brand building and marketing.
- Ideally significant experience of customer/DP management and negotiation, particularly in FMCG and possibly beverages
